Frequently asked questions

The DAL cards

What is the Grimoire seen on the cards?

The Grimoire carried by the figures of the DAL Tarot is not a simple prop: within the deck's fiction, it is the Tarot itself. Its presence, sometimes closed, sometimes open, follows a progression from card to card that traces the growing awareness of its own function.

How are the minor suits organised?

Each suit (Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles) tells a continuous story rather than a collection of independent cards: the same figure evolves from one card to the next, and the Grimoire they carry always follows the same progression — closed from the Ace to the Ten, opened for the first time by the Queen.

Why is the Wanderer numbered 0 and the Fool numbered 22?

The Wanderer (0) comes from the past and looks towards the future: he carries a legacy not yet read. The Fool (22), placed after the World, is the same figure after crossing the entire first cycle — he looks towards the past, with the conscious memory of the path travelled.

Why is the Juggler numbered I and the Magician numbered 23?

The Juggler (I) is the starting point: a still-uncertain potential, juggling with chance. The Magician (23) is its fulfilment — he no longer submits to chance, he acts with fully conscious will.
