FAQ — Eight of Wands

Minor — Wands

Eight of Wands

Beneath a violet-and-black storm sky, arms raised, the son lifts the Book high above his head — and from the Book burst eight leafy wands, fanning out into the sky. The Eight of Wands is energy released: everything sets off, all at once, and fast.

Symbolic reading

Tradition shows eight wands crossing the sky without telling us who launched them; the DAL answers the question — the Book projects them, having become a source of active energy in the hands of the one who earned it. The gesture is that of an invoker: knowledge conquered and defended can now be invoked — and it responds. The storm is not a threat: it is the natural environment of power in motion. Seen from behind, the son once again lends us his gesture: it is our impulse that sets off with the eight wands.

Reversed reading

The energy disperses or falls back: too many directions at once, a message sent too quickly, forces invoked that can no longer be channelled. The fan closes.
