Minor — Cups
Eight of Cups
Without looking back, the heroine climbs a stone staircase beneath a gentle moon. Behind her, eight cups surround the Book, left on the altar. In her hand, a walking staff. The Eight of Cups is conscious departure: leaving is not fleeing.
Symbolic reading
The DAL carves a staircase where tradition raises a mountain: this departure is not wandering, it is an ascent by stages — built, deliberate. The staff in her hand comes from another suit: Will lent to Feeling — to leave for real, the heart needs a support that is not itself. The cups are neither overturned nor thrown away: arranged around the Book on the altar, they keep watch — what one leaves consciously is not rejected, it is entrusted. The circular island marks a completed cycle; the moon watches without judgement. And the Book remains: she no longer needs to carry it — knowledge is no longer in the object, it is within her.
Reversed reading
Departure slips away: one stays out of habit while dreaming of leaving, one leaves by slamming the door — or confuses leaving with fleeing, staircase with precipice.
