Minor — Cups
Nine of Cups
Eyes closed, arms open, the heroine floats — carried by the very water that has tested her so much. On her heart rests the Book, held by no hand. Around her, nine cups form a circle. The Nine of Cups is fulfilment: not having, but being carried.
Symbolic reading
Tradition makes this the card of the wish fulfilled, the satisfied merchant before his row of cups; the DAL turns it completely inside out: fulfilment is not possession, it is trusting surrender. The water that hid, reflected, carried away and gathered tears now supports — the element that has been crossed has become an ally. The Book on her heart, not held: knowledge is no longer consulted or even carried, it rests — integrated to the point of having no weight. The nine cups are not lined up in a display: they form a sacred circle around her, an enclosure of light. Nothing to grasp, nothing to prove: being carried is the reward.
Reversed reading
Fulfilment tightens: one tries to hold onto the moment, well-being becomes complacency — or trust falters, and the water that carried her seems threatening once again.
