Minor — Pentacles
King of Pentacles
Red-bearded, legs crossed, relaxed and facing us, the King of Pentacles sits enthroned in the heart of a vineyard during the harvest — a massive wooden throne with bull heads, a large golden pentacle set at the top of the back like a halo. In the grass at his feet, the Book lies wide open. He is Earth enthroned: prosperity become landscape.
Symbolic reading
The only man in the Pentacles court, he closes the suit in an unexpected posture: legs crossed, easy and frontal — true possession does not sit rigidly; what is securely acquired allows relaxation. The bull heads on the armrests speak of strength at rest; the pentacle set like a halo reverses the symbol: he no longer holds wealth, wealth crowns him — he no longer needs to hold it. Around the throne, the grape harvest is in full swing: his reign is not a chest, it is a season — prosperity that is harvested is shared by its very nature. And the Book, wide open in the grass: he no longer reads it, he lives it — the knowledge of the entire suit, discovered in a cave, carried closed for a whole lifetime, opened by the Queen, has become the very ground of his kingdom.
Reversed reading
The reign grows heavy: comfort become entitlement, land exploited without gratitude, the throne confused with the person — or the golden halo returned to what it is: the fruit of work, not something owed.
