FAQ — The Juggler

Major Arcana

The Juggler

The same traveller has stopped. Before him, a table holds everything he would need to act — but nothing is yet in order, nothing has yet been chosen. The Juggler is the conscious beginning: the moment when one discovers one's tools without yet knowing how to use them.

Symbolic reading

His belt is empty: what he carried has spilled onto the table in abundant disorder — the disorder of someone who does not yet know how to operate. The Book is no longer ignored: he holds it closed under his arm, against his body, a first possession of what will become knowledge. Above his head, the infinity symbol recalls that what begins here will have no end; on his skin, the tattooed mandorla says that the sacred is not on the table but within the one who stands before it. Three dice lie among the objects, half hidden — chance is part of the toolkit. The Juggler is not the master: he is the apprentice who has just agreed to become one.

Reversed reading

The tools are there, but the hand hesitates or cheats: dispersion, wasted talents, skill diverted into manipulation. Or the pause stretches on indefinitely — taking inventory without ever beginning.
