Page of Swords

With the court, everything changes register: no more red-haired young man, no more bird — the magpie has become a feather, dipped into an inkwell on a crystal altar among the clouds. Before the Page, the Book has come apart into parchments. The Page of Swords is the apprentice of the written word: the one who learns to make thought hold together on a page.

Symbolic reading

What was lived must now be written: the Book fragmented into sheets on the crystal altar is not destroyed — it is a work in progress, reduced to pages so that it can be understood piece by piece. The magpie that guided the entire arc has transmuted into a feather in the inkwell: the guide has become the instrument, the voice has become the hand. The Page's silver hair says that this kind of apprenticeship has no age. Curiosity, vigilance, a taste for learning: the Page observes everything, notes everything — he does not yet pass judgement.

Reversed reading

The apprentice scatters himself: notes without a work, curiosity that spies instead of studying, words reported inaccurately. The sheets scatter in the wind.
