FAQ — Page of Pentacles

What does the Page of Pentacles mean in a reading?

The study of value: holding the concrete without being confined by it.

Why does this young woman's red braid form a bridge with the rest of the suit?

It is the face of the suit beginning again: every generation resumes the apprenticeship of Earth with its first gesture.

Why does her gaze reach into the distance while she holds a pentacle between her fingers?

Value is not in the coin, but in what the coin will make possible: she holds the concrete, but looks towards the horizon.

What does the setting around her mean, between ploughed field and young vines?

She stands exactly at the threshold: structure on one side, the living on the other — learning Earth means learning to hold both.

How is the Book carried, and what does this change mean compared with the numbered cards?

It has left the ground of the numbered cards: still closed, but carried against her side — knowledge has become a travelling companion before becoming a master.

What does the reversed Page of Pentacles mean?

Study goes astray: the coin examined too closely, the horizon lost, premature materialism — or the first pentacle squandered, teaching more than ten earned.

What function does the Page occupy in the DAL's elemental grid of the court cards?

The Earth function, applied here to the element of Earth itself: the Page embodies learning in its purest state, at the very beginning of the court-card path.
